Casa Hogar Alegre is a children’s orphanage located in the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, México. The dedicated staff provides a loving home for babies, children and teenagers who have been victims of abandonment, physical or psychological abuse. The children receive food, education, clothing, medical care, technological training; and most of all, they receive love. Casa Hogar Allegre also provides a strong Christ-centered focus and Biblical teaching, which is woven into their everyday living and educational programs.
In Mexico, abandoned and homeless children are often placed in government institutions. Social workers try to locate and reunite families, but even with their resources it sometimes takes years. The Mexican government agencies work together with Casa Hogar Alegre to provide a loving home for these precious children. Some may live in the home until they are of age to support themselves.
Although the government places children at Casa Hogar Alegre, the orphanage does not receive any financial help from the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez or State of Chiapas. Casa Hogar Alegre has been able to support these at-risk children and youth due to the generous support of many individuals, churches, and donations received from WaterStone donors.
During the past few years with the difficult economic situation, understandably financial support has dropped off. However, Casa Hogar Alegre wishes to take this opportunity to thank WaterStone donors for their continued support. This support has allowed the basic needs of the children to be met, provided funds for construction and repair projects for several unexpected emergencies.
