FAQS

What service does a Kingdom Program's Charity Advised Fund provide?

When you partner with WaterStone by opening a Charity Advised Fund, givers can make gifts from their WaterStone Giving Funds directly to your CAF to benefit the mission of your nonprofit; not only gifts of cash, but also non-cash assets like appreciated securities, real estate, agricultural, energy and business interests.

Your nonprofit will be included in the list of approved charities and ministries for grants from our WaterStone Giving Funds – our Kingdom Programs page. For a low minimum annual administrative fee of $395, WaterStone empowers your nonprofit by:

  • - Including your nonprofit’s CAF information on WaterStone’s website. We provide you a login so that you can edit your page in the Kingdom Programs section of our website. Givers can review this page and learn about your organization. Better yet, givers can make a gift directly to your CAF from their WaterStone Giving Fund.
  • - Helping you better serve and educate your donor community. We help donors unlock their giving potential and minimize taxes by crafting innovative giving solutions through gifts of appreciated assets.
  • - Taking care of the administrative and financial details of your CAF.
  • - Providing a Strategic Partnership Package for you to promote asset-based giving on your website, including gift planning illustrations, videos, blogs, social media messaging and an email campaign.

How does our Charity Advised Fund participate in the Kingdom Programs page?

For a minimum annual fee of $395, your CAF will be active and added as a Kingdom Program on WaterStone's website. We provide you a login so that you can edit your page in the Kingdom Programs section of our website, where givers can review this page and learn about your nonprofit. Better yet, givers can make a gift directly to your CAF from their WaterStone Giving Fund, an electronic check or credit card donation.

May our givers make gifts of real estate, business interests, stock or other non-traditional assets into our Charity Advised Fund?

Yes. The WaterStone passion is to help transform these types of assets into living water useful for the Kingdom of God. Please contact us and our experienced team will help determine the best solution to meet your givers’ needs.

How will we know the balance of our Charity Advised Fund?

You may access your CAF account through the Online Fund View to obtain your current fund balance and view other transactions. WaterStone financial statements are available quarterly and will be posted to the Online Fund View with an email notification sent to you. All investment accounts will be updated as statements are received to their current fair market value. You may contact the Assets, Gifts and Grants team for additional questions about your fund balance and transactions.

How will our fund be invested?

Investment options are dependent on the total assets available in your CAF.

  • - Funds retaining $25,000 or greater may select an approved investment pool.
  • - Funds retaining $200,000 or greater may recommend unique investment policy statements to be approved by the Investment Committee.
  • - Cash balances will receive an indexed money market return.

Contact the Assets, Gifts and Grants team for information.

What is the turnaround time for a grant check to be issued?

Checks are issued once a week, usually on Wednesday. The time may vary for CAF with investments (which must be converted to cash).

When a contribution is received, will we know the giver’s name?

Through the Online Fund View, you will be able to view the giver’s name, address, and contributions. When contributions are received from estate settlements, Charitable Gift Annuity agreements, or other planned giving documents, you will be contacted by WaterStone.
