IRA Charitable Rollover

If you are age 70 ½ and older and have an IRA, Congress has good news for you. On December 18, the Senate passed a bill, HR5771, which included a provision reauthorizing the IRA charitable rollover through December 31, 2014.

This provision allows donors age 70 ½ and older to transfer up to $100,000 from their IRA to a qualified public charity. This transfer can be made free of federal income tax and the gift qualifies for your 2015 required minimum distribution (RMD).

WaterStone can receive qualified IRA Rollovers into any of our Charity Advised Funds. However, the IRA charitable rollover may not be directed to a Giving Fund (Donor Advised Fund); it must go directly to a qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Since the December 31 deadline for 2015 contributions is nearly upon us, WaterStone invites you to consider a charitable rollover gift to WaterStone’s $1 Billion Impact Fund.

The charitable purpose of this fund is to build awareness and facilitate legacy mission planning within the Christian community especially in the areas of planned giving and trust/endowment planning. (Community Development)
