The theme of this year’s National Day of Prayer is “One Voice United in Prayer” featuring Romans 15:6 as its key verse:
“So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The night Jesus was betrayed and arrested he prayed not only for his disciples but for all believers. His prayer expressed a desire for unity among those who would choose to believe in him “so that the world will know that you [God] sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me,” John 17:23 (brackets added). Part of our calling is to live united with fellow believers so that the world will see living examples of God’s love. One ministry in particular is steadily influencing believers to make this calling a reality.
Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) gathers people of all ages, races and cultures in 38 countries on six continents to dive deeper into God’s Word. They believe that through studying the Bible people will have a better understanding of God, His Word and His love. Through a stronger relationship with God, participants discover how to build better and stronger relationships with others – at home, work, school and in their communities. For more than 50 years, the work of BSF has equipped believers to live Christ-centered lives that model God’s love to those around them.
Most of BSF’s classes have been initiated by national leaders. In addition to facilitating these Bible study classes, doors have been opened for BSF to establish training centers worldwide. We ask that you join us in prayer for the many opportunities to share and grow in the Word. Specifically, that:
- Participants relate Bible study to daily life so that through the power of the Holy Spirit God’s promises are made effective in personal experience
- Children grow a love for the Bible so that they can know the love of God
- Individuals are equipped and motivated to contribute more effectively to the life and work of their churches, supporting them faithfully in prayer, stewardship and service
- Individuals communicate to others around them what they have received, so they may make a greater impact for Christ in their communities and may be alive to opportunities to affect them for good
With a deep focus on helping people know God and equipping them to effectively serve the Church throughout the world, BSF currently has 200,000 people participating in more than 1,000 classes.
